Question by Jeff: free charting software?
is there any free charting software, that will let you write your own indicators for stocks? I was messing around with forex, and came across metatrader4 which is absolutely amazing.

I want to find something like this for stocks, preferably for free, but willing to pay if there is something really good out there.

Please let me know if you know of any. Thanks

P.S. I have done a preliminary search online and turned up nothing but crap

Hi Jeff,

I do not think there is a free charting software for stock. Take instance for me I am using licensed Meta Stock software and subscribe to telequotes for the stocks data. Over at the software, you can program whatever you want like what you can do over at the forex MT4 trading platform.

Actually I personally find that FX trading is better than stock trading. At least if the europe economic has turned bad, I can still short EURUSD pair and make some money whereas for stock, not every stock is shortable and normally you will need to pay a high transaction fee for stock and even need to pay for subscription for the data streams for stock depending on which market are you into whereas for Forex trading, MT4 platform is free, data stream is free, indicators are free and you are only charged one time for a open and close transaction.
