Getting Java to work in Ubuntu?
Question by Jalisa: Getting Java to work in Ubuntu?
Hey guys. I recently switched to Ubuntu, and I'm loving it so far. But I'm having problems getting on a website (www.forex.com) where I need Java. I have it installed but it's still not working. I figured I'd try the old Windows method --- uninstall everything, then install it again.
My problem is uninstalling Java. When I go to Add/Remove Apps, I can uninstall the Java 6.0 Plugin, but I can't uninstall Runtime. It tells me:
"Cannot remove sun-java6-bin
One or more applications depend on sun-java6-bin. To remove sun-java6-bin and the dependent applications, use the Synaptic package manager."
And, me being an Ubuntu newb, I have no idea how to use this Synaptic package manager.
Can anyone tell me what to do?!?
Thanks to Beryl/Ubuntu, but it still doesn't work. FOrex.com doesn't show the charting. Everything else is fine. Help!!!
