I'm buying something from ebay with prices in US dollars, will there be an extra charge as i am paying with a UK card?

Look up the current conversion rate from pounds to dollars for your card. Generally, this is just slightly higher than the daily Forex numbers, and the card company does it for you automatically without a surcharge.
